Negative:
Students in the university project different images. They can be good inside the campus but once got out, the unexpected happens. Some of them smoke till they drop. Some just go around and chat nonsense with their “kabarkadas”.
Once you enter an internet shop/computer shop, you will be glad to see many students searching for their assignments but at the moment you look on the big screens of the computer, you will be disappointed finding out that would only search the web for online games. Online games that won’t help them with their studies.
Most of the students inside the university just hang around their building when break time comes. You won’t see most of them studying their lessons. They love chatting with their classmates and they would come to class almost late...
In terms of classes, as we have observed, some students do not participate in the class discussion. More often, they just want to listen and listen until the classes ended.
Positive:
There are also celebrations in the university wherein most of the students participate. Not all students are passive.
Students really know how to deal with other people. They can adapt easily to the environment that they have. They know how to speak with their classmate, when ever there are group works, discussion or projects. The work can be done easily when students are all cooperating with the group.
Students usually hang out on different places in the university. They stay in these places to do whatever they have to do – assignments, projects or just simply sharing of different stories with each other. Such places are:
· Rotonda
The place where students spend time during their breaks or when classes ended
· Kubo
This is the place where most students go and do their things.
· Library
This is the place for students who are looking for some assignments or projects. This is also a place for students who want to study in a quiet place.
· Canteens
The place where all the students go when break time comes.
There are also La Sallian students who are actively participating in the universities’ activities. Students join different clubs and organization to enhance their skills and talents.
What Students Don’t Want to Happen?
Students have unique way dealing of dealing with other people. What students don’t want to happen is to compare them with other people.
Students really get upset whenever teachers or professors keep on comparing them with other students, sections, course or colleges. Students believe that they have their own personalities and they have their own way of dealing with their studies, so they really get offended each time their teacher say something bad about them. They put in their mind that they are not that good. Every time their class starts, they would not have the courage to study well because they would always think that comparison will happen once more.
But there are still students who will prove that what their professors have said isn’t true. They will show that even if they are not that good compared to other students, they can make some things that can uplift their spirits. Most students actively participate in class discussion; do well in quizzes and examinations and get good grades on their finals.
Let’s just say that every student is unique, so what the students’ are asking for is for other people to avoid comparing us to other students. Because we have our own way in studying, In dealing with other people and in living our life. Students also need respect from other people. That’s all what we, students, want.
